Dakota State University proudly provides educational benefits to active duty and retired military. When it comes to providing an education to our sevice men and women, our mission is clear: see you succeed.

National Recognition & Accreditation

DSU's technology programs are nationally recognized by the National Security Agency, Department of Homeland Security, the National Cryptologic School, and branches of the military.

DSU is accredited by the SAA (State Approving Agency) as a Program Eligible for Veterans Benefits.

Active Duty Benefits

Beginning officially for summer 2018, active duty service members, National Guard, and Reservists will pay $250/credit hour instead of the current $335/credit hour. Also, any online delivery fees will not apply to active duty and retired military students.

Veteran Benefits

While retired military are not eligible for the same reduced tuition rate as active duty service members, you are still eligible to receive benefits such as Tutorial Assistance, CLEP credits, and Work Study compensation.

Military Resource Center

We support active duty and retired military students by providing one-on-one attention with our veteran benefits coordinator, as well as our Military Resource Center on campus.


DSU has one of the top three cyber security programs in the nation for veterans and military students, ranked from more than 600 colleges and universities that participated in the 2018 survey by the Military Times.

The university was also ranked as a Military Times Best school in November 2017, and for the seventh year in a row, Victory Media has named DSU to their Military Friendly School list, an honor reserved for the top 15 percent of colleges, universities, and trade schools that embrace military students.
